Sarah & Alexander

May 4th, 2019 - Seven Springs, Virginia

Wedding Invitations, Reply Sets, Monogram Design, Rehearsal Dinner Invitations, Wedding Programs, Reception Menus, “Day Of” Materials

I’ve known these two for quite some time, so when the engagement was announced and they approached me about designing their wedding suite, I happily took the job on. Sarah’s key inspirations were Virginia in springtime, her and Alexander’s shared experience and love of Colonial Williamsburg, and her signature color: purple.

The design I landed on was one that evoked the old world charm the couple loved so much, but with a sense of liveliness and whimsy that springtime (and the couple themselves) brings. Shades of soft charcoal were chosen over hard, formal blacks. Warmer, lighter, mossy greens replaced traditional deeper shades. Modern brush script was chosen to accent the wedding invitations and reception menus instead of formal calligraphy. Traditional letter-pressing motifs and an elegant monogram for the wedding programs found their way onto fans that cooled off guests in Virginia’s May sunshine.
